ASCE 7-16 Standard
Innovations in Fall Protection
The updated ASCE 7 standard included many changes, and this program will explain how the “new” ASCE 7-16 standard affects roofing systems from design all the way through installation. The course provides an overview of ASCE 7 standards and geographic adoption while reviewing the changes in the new ASCE 7-16 standard. Participants will gain a working knowledge of the impact of wind speed on design and how the new standards affect roof installation methods.
Metal-Era is the largest and most accomplished edge metal systems manufacturer in North America, with the broadest portfolio of tested roofing and building envelope solutions on the market. A series of dynamic robots help standardize products and improve efficiencies – equating to consistently higher performing products that ship fast. Participants of this expansive one-hour tour will gain a better understanding of the edge system manufacturing process from design through installation to meet building code compliance.
OSHA’s new Walking-working Surfaces and Fall Protection rule place the burden of compliance on the building owner. This presentation will provide guidance on properly designing and specifying fall protection solutions and mitigating risk for both the building owner and the design team.
Join us for a roundtable conversation as we discuss the most common details that must be addressed in any roof design, while exploring the basic concepts involved in both single ply and asphalt roof system details. We’ll also take a look at a number of examples of what NOT to do when it comes to detailing your roof as well as exploring benefits of liquid-applied flashing solutions.
This program explores the different types of rigid board roof insulations prevalent in the industry today and compares their performances while reviewing energy code requirements & environmental issues influencing insulation, rigid insulation board layout and attachment methods, and moisture & condensation concerns.
Learn how prefabricated construction is advancing in vertical segments from hospitals to government, hospitality to office, and beyond. Prefabrication firms are expanding, and new design-build business models - including their own prefabrication factories - are disrupting traditional building approaches with significant success. A live wall demonstration is also tentatively planned.
SJ Mallein & Associates is proud to once again partner with the Greater Chicago Food Depostitory to bring awareness, collect food, and raise money for our second food drive. No one should ever go hungry, especially during the coming holiday season. In lieu of bringing a food item, as in previous years, we instead ask that you help us by making a secure monetary donation by clicking the “Online Donation” button below. Every dollar raised through this virtual food drive will be used to buy nutritious food for our community.ONLINE DONATION
Course credit will be awarded ONLY if the attendee is present during the program. Course credit is not earned by registration only.
