Steve Mallein
Principal
Steve has worked in the commercial roofing industry for nearly 40 years. He has worked for two of the largest manufacturers in the United States in the role of regional business manager. He also spent over 16 years with one of the leading roofing distributors in the US, based in Kansas City with his last role as vice president of commercial sales.
Steve is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. He has a passion for golf and competed at the collegiate level.
Steve is the proud father of three sons and currently resides in Libertyville.
Ryan Schultz
Principal
Ryan started working in the field of Division 7 products when he was at 16, working summers installing roofing. After college he began his career as a sales rep for a roofing manufacturer and quickly gravitated to working with not only roofing but waterproofing and wall systems. He has held positions with a major manufacturers as Regional Manager, National Sales Manager, and Business Development Manager.
Ryan was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. He holds a BS from the University of Iowa. He is a member of CRCA and currently serves on the board of the Chicago chapter of IIBEC. In the past has been involved in SWRI, ABAA, GRHC, and USGBC. He enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 kids, and is an avid Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks fan.
Kim Good
Office Manager / CSR
Kim began her career in the roofing industy in distribution, starting in 1995. During her 18 years there, she served as Office, Inventory and Purchasing Manager. She has been with SJ Mallein since 2014 as a Customer Service Specialist and Office Manager.
She has been involved with Chicago Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) for 18 years, both with distribution and in her current position. Kim serves as an Associate Member on the CRCA Board and also serves on CRCA’s Membership Committee. She is also actively involved in the CRCA’s Chicagoland Women in Roofing (CWIR) committee.
Kim graduated with her BS degree in Operations Management from Northern Illinois University and currently resides in Gilberts.
Angelo Peritore
Strategic Accounts / Tapered Design
Angelo joined SJ Mallein in January of 2017, bringing with him twenty-six years of experience in the roofing industry. He began his roofing career in 1986 with a tapered insulation manufacturer located in Southern Illinois. In 1992 he started A.J. & Associates, an independent representation firm focused on the sale of tapered systems in the northern Illinois market; Angelo subsequently began representing other manufacturers’ products, enabling him to gain a better understanding of not just the tapered insulation component of a roofing system but the entire roofing system.
Angelo studied architecture at Murray State University and currently resides in Sandwich with his wife and three children.
Erik Vega
BEC-2
Business Development Specialist
Erik joined us in March 2023 as our new Business Development Specialist. He brings over 20 years of building envelope experience to the team, having gotten his start in the industry as a roofing and sheet metal installer and fabricator and was a member of the Local 73 SMW union. He subsequently transitioned to operations where he managed all facets of projects, including estimation, project management, and project closeout. Erik holds a BEC-2 certification through the Building Envelope Science Institute (BESI).
Erik is a lifelong resident of Chicago and currently resides in Antioch with his wife and three children. He is a lifelong Bears fan and enjoys playing sports and working out.
Michelle Wright
CSR
Michelle joined SJ Mallein in March 2018. She began her career in the construction industry as a distribution specialist.
Michelle graduated from North Central College with a BA in Marketing and has worked for some of the nation’s top residential property management firms. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her sales and customer service achievements. She looks forward to utilizing her past experience in customer service and sales to meet and exceed expectations in account management.
Michelle is an avid concert goer and enjoys live concerts with her husband whenever they get the chance. Michelle currently makes her home in Aurora with their children, Silas and Autumn.
Dan Flickinger
Building Envelope Accounts Manager
Dan joined the SJ Mallein team in Septermber of 2019. His career in building envelopes goes all the way to 1991 as a Local 11 union roofer here in Chicago.
Dan brings a well-rounded experience to his new position, having worked as a contractor, a building envelope manufacturer’s representative, and for a number of other manufacturers in the roofing, walls, and waterproofing industries in an outside sales and technical capacity. He is an active member of the Madison and Milwaukee Chapters of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).
Dan enjoys golf and fishing and is an avid reader. He currently resides in Wisconsin with his two boys. Fun fact: Dan has a twin brother; he claims to be the more attactive of the two.
Jake Mallein
CSI- EP
Sales Support
Operating under the assumption that two Malleins are better than one, Jake Mallein joined SJ Mallein in February 2022, having recently graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in marketing. Jake also interned with us for a year starting back in June of 2020.
Jake is a member of the Chicago Chapter of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). He was born and raised in Kansas City and relocated to the Chicago area after graduation. He currently resides in Libertyville. Jake is an avid golfer and his ultimate goal is to one day play a round at Augusta National.
